Monte das Açoteias is a small rural tourism unit located 5 minutes from Tavira city center, 15 minutes from the region's main beaches, close to the A22 motorway and 30 minutes from Faro airport. Our mission is to provide quality and professional tourist accommodation services in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, guaranteeing a pleasant stay and making our guests feel at home. Monte das Açoteias is a place of tranquillity and relaxation where everything happens at a slow pace. It's a space that encourages sharing, socializing and social relationships. There is free Wi-Fi, but no television.

The dream and discovery
The dream of creating and running a small rural tourism unit was an old one. At the end of 2016, after a long search, we found a small abandoned farm that was difficult to access. But it had a privileged location. It seemed like an excellent place for what we wanted.
At the same time, it was a place of absolute silence, tranquillity and peace, but very close to the city, the beaches and access. That's where we wanted to move. The property, which was in an advanced state of disrepair, was purchased at the beginning of 2017. The first step towards making our dream come true was taken.

Rehabilitation
After a difficult and tortuous bureaucratic process of projects, licenses and authorizations, the rehabilitation work began in October 2021. The refurbishment and extension were carried out with full respect for the architectural features and the use of traditional building materials from the region. The facility opened to the public in May 2024, six years and a few months after the process began (February 2018). It was a long and difficult marathon, but we survived. Despite everything, we completed this phase full of energy and enthusiasm to welcome our visitors and ready to provide them with pleasant, active and, at the same time, peaceful and relaxing moments. The enthusiasm was such that in October 2024 we began a second phase, expanding the facility to its current size, which we completed in December 2025.

The proposal
At Monte das Açoteias we wake up every day to the sound of birds chirping. Throughout the day we can enjoy the silence and tranquillity of the countryside while reading a book in the shade of a carob tree or having a cool drink by the pool. On the Algarvian patio we can chat and have a drink in the late afternoon. But when we feel the call for the rhythm and vibrancy of the city, the desire to bury our toes in the sand, go shopping or enjoy a cultural show, everything is just a 5 or 10 minute stroll away. Everything is right at hand. All this and much more.
We've found and built a space the size of our dream and we're going to share it with all those who want to fill our souls with the pleasure and joy of their presence and stay.
